The past 2 weeks...

A lot has been going on in our little world lately. A quick trip to California for a funeral of a loved one. Basically a second father to me. So many good memories are associated with him. My best friends dad fought a hard battle with Cancer. And it eventually took his life...but not without him going with a fight. He inspired me my whole life on what a strong individual should be like. But his last few day of life was a testimony to me of strength and courage.
Brad couldn't take the time off of work and so I went down to California with my parents and Jeff and Julianne for the funeral.
We left Sunday and came back Wednesday. Monday we just relaxed after the LONG drive down. A trip that normally takes 10-11 hours took us 15 hours to get there. My car decided to over heat in the Vegas weather. My poor mom was the passenger with me as we had to blow the heater in 115 degree weather. It was HOT! We were dumping water bottles on us and once we got out of the Mohave desert it was smooth sailing from there.
So Monday we went to the beach for a couple of hours...
Cash was a super champ through out the trip...he was so cute at the beach and hated the sand and water. :)

Tuesday was the funeral. It was a beautiful tribute to his life. All of his children spoke of some tender memories they had with their dad and it made me appreciate my parents and in-laws so much more.
My dad dedicated his grave and did a beautiful job at that...I'm so glad that families are forever and that we have the knowledge of the gospel.
Here is Shell and I at the church afterwards. This is the church building that the two of us were in nursery together and were baptized in. The same church she had her reception in...So many memories.

I got home late Wednesday night to come home to TWO beautiful flower arrangements a clean house and dinner. I seriously have the best husband in the world!

That Saturday Brad ran his 25th FULL...yes i said FULL Marathon. I was so proud of him. We rolled out of bed at 4:45 in the morning and drove up to Park City. I took a nap in the car after I dropped him off at the finish line...I was able to find a good place to cheer him on in the middle of the race and was so proud of him. My parents called and said that they were in Park City to surprise us to cheer him on. It was nice to have them to hang out with while he ran the race....
Here is Brad coming into the finish line...I was so unbelievably proud of him. He is inspiring and makes me want to be a better person.
And here he is with his medal after a hard 26.2. Two more Marathons this year! What a stud!
We had a pretty uneventful week this week. Nothing out of the ordinary. We picked Dale up for the weekend and when I got there he had a little surprise for me...
A #1 Step Mom shirt.Man I'm so blessed. He is such a cute kid.

Life in the Henry household is good!!! :)

The Beginning!

Welcome to our new blog.
For years I had a blog of my own...it told the story of a girl figuring out who she was.
But now that I have become a wife and a step mom...I figured it was time to redo the blog and start a family one. So join us on our journey as we start our lives together.

I thought I would start with "OUR STORY"

Brad and I went on our first date on Friday the13th.
I specifically remember saying to him before we went out...
"uh oh Friday the thirteenth"
with his reply being...
"Friday the thirteenth has always been a lucky day for me"
with my response...
"Well ya because you will be going on a date with me! "

When he picked me up I remember being really impressed.
We went to a Thai place downtown and then to Laughing Stock. We had some time between dinner and the comedy show, so we walked the streets of downtown and talked.
He was easy for me to talk to and I really liked that.
The date was a good one...and I knew I wanted to go out with him again.
(although I did go to Del Taco after our date cause I didn't like the Thai food. Yes I did confess this to him after we were married)

Sooo....we talked the next day and the next...and I suggested we go to a movie.
We went that night...
It seemed so easy to be with Brad and I loved spending time with him...
Before he or I knew it...we were joined at the hip.
On Leap Day he proposed and I said YES!

I never thought I would fall in love that fast. I had had quite a few relationships and had never allowed myself to fall that quickly. It took the right time and the right guy and I knew without a doubt that he was going to be the man I married...
Luckily that did come true on May 26th in the Draper Temple...
I truly didn't know life could be so good.
He has made me happier than I ever thought possible.
I am a step mom to the best kid ever and loving life...

Here are a few photos of our lives the past 2 months...
Our Wedding Day!

Our Amazing parents...who showed us through example how to have a good marriage

Love this picture

It rained and was freezing on our wedding day. The wind was blowing so hard.
Good memories. As Brad's mom said
"Heavenly Father is Showering Blessings on you two"

At the Oakland Temple 2 weeks after our wedding for another Henry wedding.

Dale and I at the Giants game in San Fransisco

At our open house

The cutest father and son duo!

It's honestly crazy how when things are meant to be it all falls into place.
I spent many nights in my twenties trying to figure out why...
Thank goodness I was wrong because the reward I have now is so great!
